Piano lessons in Morgan Hill

I would love to open up the world of music to you and your children.

Piano Instruction

ELINOR MARTIN

I am a professional, highly qualified piano teacher with over 30 years of experience. I love teaching piano lessons because music enhances the lives of my students. They have an opportunity to become expressive musicians through the study of the piano.  I am a creative, positive teacher and I adapt my teaching methods to my individual students' unique talents and learning styles.  My studio is in Morgan Hill which is a convenient location for southern Santa Clara county including Morgan Hill, Gilroy and San Jose.

IMPORTANT FACTS

I teach private piano lessons in Morgan Hill to beginners through advanced levels, ages five to adult.  I offer a balanced approach that incorporates many important elements of piano study, including music reading, music theory, ear-training, piano performance and piano technique. I am classically trained and that is the foundation for my teaching. I have experience in jazz, rock and contemporary music and I incorporate these genres into my lessons as well. I teach duets and ensemble playing to develop a strong sense of rhythm and to promote teamwork.

EDUCATION

I graduated summa cum laude with a degree in music from the University of Northern Colorado and I am committed to continuing education. I have attended Master Classes at the Aspen Music Festival in Colorado for more than ten years. The teachers of these classes have included the concert artists Emmanuel Ax, Misha Dichter and Rita Sloan.

PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONS

I am a member of the Music Teachers' Association of California (MTAC) Santa Clara branch.  I was on the Board of Directors for Conejo Valley MTAC Branch for 20 years and served in the capacity of Certificate of Merit Music Theory Chair for 15 years.  I have been an adjudicator for the National Guild of Piano Teachers and have judged at the Pleasant Valley MTAC branch festivals.

PERFORMING PIANIST

I have been a performing church pianist for over 30 years.  My most recent position was at New Hope Lutheran Church in Agoura Hills, CA.

STUDENT PERFORMANCES

I have studio recitals for my students.  My advancing students participate in Certificate of Merit.  It is a yearly evaluation sponsored by the Music Teachers' Association of California (MTAC). It includes piano performance, piano technique, sight-reading and music theory.   Many of my students have been selected to perform in honors recitals at the MTAC state convention.

Uplifting Joy of Music

The study of piano has changed my life. I developed my love for music during my piano lessons as a child. I experience sheer joy while playing the piano.  In addition, the study of music provides me with  intellectual stimulation and promotes wellness.

Live Life with Music

I want to give my students the gift of music that they can enjoy for a lifetime.
